Hello, my lovely Gryffindors! I know you missed me, but it couldn't be helped. I was forced to extend my Christmas vacation due to family circumstances. My mum...her cousin died. She was only thirty-two! It was terrible. She left three children behind, and my mum was forced to find homes for them...during Christmas break! I was so afraid that if I left, she would break down. You know my dad's terrible with that stuff. So I stayed and helped find the poor orphans homes. Dad finally said I'd done enough, and brought me back here...please keep my orphaned second cousins in your hearts, my friends.

So Mum and Dad took me to Bermuda. I was really hoping we'd see some of that magical discharge the place is so famous for, but nothing! It was dreadfully boring. Mum thought that we should stay awhile, though, because last week there was a pie-making contest.

You know that woman loves making pie...and she only came in second place. It was really disappointing for her...she was so upset that she took us to New York! That was fun, except then we realized that it was already mid-January, and I was supposed to be in school, so she dropped me off here last night. I think I'd rather be in New York than Slughorn's classroom, though. So how were your holidays, mates? Still have all your limbs?

Oh, Moony, if my mum did have a cousin, who had orphaned kids, would the orphaned children be my second cousins or what? I'm sure you know.

	Sorry, Padfoot. If it makes you feel better, my mum kept forcing me to try new pies for the contest, and some of the flavors were worse than the smell coming off Snivellus. 	She really wanted to win the contest. I think she finally chose a plain blueberry pie, though. Her specialty... I'm sure she'll send one soon. She always does. I'm like a labstag or something. 	I like her strawberry ones best, really. They're brilliant. You know...if you feel like hinting at her or anything. Got the full transformation about New Year's Eve. Ears finally came out all nice and furry! My mother almost walked in on me though...close call like you wouldn't believe. So now you're back, about time we took ourselves out for a spin, eh? 	Moony's loony a lot of the time, really. I thought the whole him being a prefect thing would work out a bit better on our end. Robots are those weird metal humans, yeah?
